A History of the lumpers
The Lumpers is currently owned by John and
Patricia Lambe and have been sole owners since
January 2007.
We have 4 children Shauna, Nathan, David and
Nadine.
The Licensed Premises
was leased on the 7th
September 1917 by
MacArdle Moore & Co
Ltd. to Joesph Coleman.
It was leased on the
basis that he would
expand and rebuild the
property and spend the sum of 400 pounds, of which MacArdle Moore would give
him half. The property leased was surrounded by property belonging to Treanors but
the acutal licensed premise was to Coleman. It was taken over in 1965 by Matthew
McArdle.
The Lumpers got its name from Tom 'the Lumper' Treanor who was a seed merchant
who sorted out big spuds (Lumps) from small spuds next door to the pub .These
days his original Fireplace can be seen in good use as part of the Lumpers Pub
.
